SESWA sprouted as a youth organization in 1986, grew into a formidable NGO through perseverance. We champion development with community engagement at every step. Our Objectives

• To mobilize people and facilitate them in organizing themselves to solve their own problems
• To undertake developmental initiatives for promoting gender equality and protection of the rights of children
• Socio-economic empowerment of the rural people through formation of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and WOs (Women Organizations) for sustainable development
• To build capacities of local people for optimal utilization of local resources such as, human, natural and agriculture
• To take steps for peace and religious harmony in the area
• To take steps to improve the quality of education
• To take proactive steps towards the promotion of natural resource management
• To take initiatives for better health, especially rehabilitation of persons with disabilities

Projects and Programs

Programs of SESWA are unique examples of volunteerism which is the difference that distinguishes the organization from other NGOs working around the country as these programs are exclusively run by the volunteer members including the Executive Body and devoted general members without any hope of reward.

Human and Institutional Development

• Established 80 CBOs and 40 women Groups in Swabi, Mardan and Bunir
• Arranged capacity building programs for all the partner CBOs covering various fields like; human rights, agriculture women human rights, children rights, social mobilization, report writing, PRA and management etc
• Exposure visits are being conducted regularly for experience sharing and learning from the others’ experiences
• Capacity building programs for NGOs in the area
• Established network of organizations

Education

• Establishment of library at the village Shewa
• Financial support to poor students (school, college and university level)
• Scholarship program (college and university level)
• Construction of Govt. Girls Primary School
• Award program for capable students (primary, middle and SSC level)
• Competitive exam between primary, middle and SSC level
• Established the SESWA Model School, financed by the Embassy of Japan

• Formation of 200 Parents Teachers Association (Swabi & Mardan Districts)
• Provision of land for schools (male and female)
• Improved enrollment up to maximum extant
• Provide conducive environment to decrease drop out
• Support to school management in maintenance and repair
• Raised sense of competition within the students
• Regular fund raising of PTAs for their respective schools

Health

• Awareness and motivation about health and hygiene
• Organizing free medical camps
• Blood donation program

• Latrine construction program (low cost latrine)

• Drugs reduction and rehabilitation of drugs addicts

Natural Resource Management

Agriculture:

Water Management

• Assisted Naranji watershed study team in survey, assessment and planning.
• Provided social assistance to PHLC
• ADC component is assisted in organizing Water User Association in the area. SESWA played a key role in organizing the community meetings, conducting program surveys and research. SESWA staff & office provided technical, social and logistic support during the implementation of the program.
• Attended various NDP workshops, seminars and have provided thematic assistance in social mobilization and FO formation.
• A series of training is conducted with the collaboration of UNOPS to develop the skills of farmer organizations. Management committee of FO, Jamalgari, Naranji, Gumbat 1 and Gumbat branch distributary’s are trained in management, finance, and planning and conflict resolution.
